I am an experienced Flute, Recorder, Piano and Theory teacher and flautist. I studied the flute as first study in performance with Rainer Schuelein at London College of Music and post graduate advanced solo studies also at LCM. My training was in the French School of flute performance and I can trace my teaching all the way back to Paul Taffanel Professor of Flute at the Paris Conservatoire (1893-1901) and the introduction of the Boehm System flute. My second study instrument was piano.

I have performed as a flautist in many different environments. I was one of three flautists to represent Great Britain in the Jean-Pierre Rampal Flute Competition in 1993. I have made studio recordings as a soloist and performed in pit orchestras across the North East of England and in London. In 1991 I won the Regan Contemporary Music Prize.

I specialise in concert demonstrations of the flute family from piccolo to contra bass flute. Multi track recording using flutes. I give lectures on the history and development of the flute and its repertoire.

I have over 30 years teaching experience and have taught many students all the way from beginner, first flute lesson to success in professional diploma exams and music college auditions.

I teach children and adults from young beginners and adults working for exams of who just want to improve their technique. I regularly prepare candidates for higher grade exams and music college auditions. More than 20 of my students have successfully auditioned and gone on to study flute at music college.

I teach approximately 70 flute and piano lessons a week and conduct four flute choirs. I have taught at Presdales School in Ware for 25 years and prepare students for GCSE and A'level exams.

I am happy to prepare students for ABRSM or Trinity College London grade and diploma exams.

I have a current DBS check as required to work with children in school.
