During the Coronavirus response, (lock down, social distancing measures etc) I began teaching on line using Skype and Zoom, I have adapted to the different limitations and possibilities of on line teaching, so can deliver effective and enjoyable lessons. Due to the delay in the system I can't accompany a student live, so I record accompaniments at the appropriate speed for the student and send them by e-mail or file share so that the student can practice with them and play along with them in a lesson etc.

I teach flute, recorder, piano and theory.

I teach at Presdales School in Ware, Bottisham Village College and Bottisham Community Primary School and can arrange private lessons in Haverhill, Bottisham, Saffron Walden, Hertford and Ware.

I am happy to teach a course of lessons or the occasional lesson to support technical development. I offer specialised technique lessons for Piccolo, Alto, Bass and Contra Bass flutes as well as the concert flute.

I can improve your tone colour and volume, tuning, breathing, posture, finger technique and rhythm. I specialise in musicality and stylistic differences appropriate for pieces of different period and genres.

Through many years of experience with students I can support students with injury or pain playing through the choices around ergonomic flutes and modifications to flutes. For example the Flute Lab Swan Neck Headjoint that I play. I can accompany my students in their exams which gives them the advantage of familiarity with the accompaniment being a standard part of their lessons.

I teach the piano and theory and regularly give theory and composition lessons for GCSE and A'level students.
